Monaco

Monaco’s main harbour, Port Hercules, is famous for its superb yachts, its glamorous lifestyle around the year and of course, the Grand Prix that takes place every year in May. Having your yacht in the marina then is an amazing experience as most of the track is around the marina and you will be sure not to miss a thing ... from your flybridge or from your top deck.

Monaco has been a harbour for as long as mankind can remember, being occupied by the Greeks and the Romans as well as less known civilisations such as the Ligures and the Monoïkos. Monaco is a natural harbour with the "Rock" ("Rocher" or "Rocca") acting as a huge breakwater against Westerly winds (Mistral & Ponente) and nearby Cap Martin offering a little protection from the East (Levante & Sirocco). The harbour was also used as a naval outpost throughout history since the conspicuous mountain behind ("Tête de Chien" or "Testa di Can") offers a spectacular view of the coast from the Bay of Cannes to Sanremo.

Renting a berth permanently in Monaco is extremely challenging. Though the marina is well maintained and is efficiently run and though it has been extended, the harbour is still relatively small for a population of 35,000 residents. For rentals, priority is given to the 8,000 Monaco nationals and after them, Monaco residents. There are long waiting lists and your application to rent will not even be considered if you are not Monegasque or a resident.  You will never find berths for sale in Monaco on this website as they are all state owned. Unlike France, when Monaco developed its marinas, the Principality did not require finance for the works and therefore berths are nowadays the property of His Serene Highness the Prince of Monaco.
